How can we help you?

How shipping works for sellers

OfferUp’s shipping program lets you accept payments through the app and ship items across the continental U.S. with pre-paid shipping labels straight from us. Then get paid directly into your account. Here’s how it works.

List your item

  1. To be able to post shippable items, validate your email address with us, if it hasn't already been validated. Manage your email settings
  2. Turn on Sell & ship nationwide when listing your item. How to post
  3. You'll see the service fee rate for your item. In this example, the service fee is 7.9%. The fee you see may vary.

  4. Set your shipping options, including the item's weight. This will be used to calculate shipping costs.

  5. You may see the option to choose who pays for shipping: you or the buyer. Pick which option you prefer. By default, the buyer pays for shipping.
  6. Finish posting your item. It will display to your local buyers under Pick up, and buyers nationwide under Shipping.

Sell and ship

  1. When a buyer chooses Ship to me, you’ll get an offer for your item.
  2. When you accept the offer, we'll collect payment from the buyer.
  3. You’ll be asked to enter the address you’re shipping from, and the buyer will provide their address. We'll use these to make your shipping label.
    • Please only use the label that OfferUp provides. Using a different label means we can't track delivery and could result in you not being paid.
  4. Print out the pre-paid USPS shipping label we send to you. To view the label:
    • In the app, go to your messages with the buyer and tap View label under “Accepted - time to ship!” Find messages
    • We’ll also email the label to your verified email address. Manage your email settings
  5. Package the item securely, attach the label, and give it to the US Postal Service. Packaging tips
  6. After the buyer receives the item, they have 3 days to evaluate it. See Buyer protection on OfferUp for conditions.
  7. Once the sale is final, you’ll get your payment minus the service fee. Then you can transfer the money to your bank account. Get paid after shipping
